WHAT IS STRESS?

By | Blog
What Is Stress?   It is a physiological response that is connected to an external event.   There has to be a stressor, for stress to begin. It is usually something like a deadline at work you must meet, or an exam you are sitting, too much to do or maybe it could be your in-laws are coming to stay. The word ‘stress’ is described as hardship, adversity, force or pressure. When our body is faced with this, whether it is from internal or external sources, a vital response process kicks in. This is referred to as the fight-or-flight-response. Going back in time- many, many years ago, the likeliest threat a human being would encounter to spark this response would be the fear that a wild animal was about to attack them, someone was screaming at them, or weeks without food. It made sense back then, that you’d need the strength to fight back or to run away fast. When our body is in fight or flight mode, adrenaline and cortisol is released. The heart rate goes up and blood gets pumped to our limbs and away from our digestive and reproductive system. Your pupils dilate to help you see and the mind becomes hyper-vigilant. The blood sugar levels go up as well. In a healthy stress response, the cortisol level rises and falls quickly – as soon as the presumed threat is out of the way.   Remember: Stress is a biological response that is a normal part of our lives. Chronic stress, is when your body stays in this fight-or-flight mode continuously (usually because the situation isn’t resolved, as with financial stressors or a challenging boss and work situation.) Chronic stress is linked to health concerns such as digestive issues, an increased risk of heart disease and a weakening of the immune system.
  • TIPS TO HELP WITH STRESS:

  1. Limit Caffeine, Alcohol and Nicotine:
If possible, cut out caffeine, alcohol and nicotine but at least limit the amount you have. Caffeine and nicotine are stimulants and will increase your level of stress. Alcohol is a depressant when taken in large quantities, but acts as a stimulant in smaller amounts. These are often seen as being helpful to reduce stress but in fact have the opposite effect….and add to your stress level.
  1. Physical Activity:
Exercise helps reduce the level of stress you maybe feeling. Even a brisk walk out in the fresh air can restore your body and mind to a calmer, more relaxed state. Make  allowing some time for exercise a priority into your daily routine as it is a great remedy for the stressors we face in the modern age.
  1. Get More Sleep:
A lack of sleep is a significant cause of stress. Unfortunately, stress also interrupts sleep as thoughts keep going through our heads, stopping us from relaxing enough to fall asleep. So, stop doing any mentally challenging, demanding work several hours before going to bed, allowing yourself time to calm down. Do something to relax like maybe a warm bath, reading a book that tires your eyes. Also, a cup of chamomile tea or a hot milk drink might help.
  1. Relaxation Techniques:
Each day try to relax with a stress reduction technique. Self-hypnosis is very easy and can be done anywhere. One very simple technique can be to focus on a  word or phrase that has a positive meaning to you. Words such as ‘calm’ ‘love’ ‘peace’ can work well or a mantra such as “I deserve calm in my life.” If you find your mind wandering to other thoughts, simply let them go and return your focus onto your chosen words. Sitting calmly and relaxed. Meditation done daily is life changing, taking this time to clear your mind of all thoughts…. It improves your mental and physical health and wellbeing. Don’t worry if you find it hard to relax at first. Relaxation is a skill that needs to be learnt and like everything improves with practice.
  1. Talk To Someone:
Just simply talking to someone can be very helpful. Stress can cloud your judgement and stop you from seeing things clearly but when you voice what you are feeling into words, you can either see the answer yourself or the person you are talking to might come up with a solution. Maybe you might need to talk to a trained professional to put your problems into perspective. You can release some of the built-up tension by discussing it with someone.
  1. Keep A Diary:
Keeping a diary and writing down your thoughts and how you are feeling each day can be a very effective stress management tool, as it helps you become more aware of the situations, which cause you to become stressed. Use your diary to understand and identify what triggers a stress response in you and how it is that you react. You can see how effective you are in stressful situations. This can enable you to seek the help that you might need or to develop better coping mechanisms yourself.
  1. Manage Your Time:
Make a list of all the things you need to do and list them in order of genuine priority. Then ask yourself….do you really need to do this job or can you delegate it to someone else? Accept that you cannot do everything at once and that it is not necessary that you do everything yourself. Lack of time is one of the No.1 things listed as causing stress to people. Every single person has the same amount of time, so, the issue is not a lack of time but a lack of being organized. To manage your time and to get more done in a day you need to set a workable plan of your prioritises for your day and stick to it.
  1. Learn To Say ‘No:’
Learning to say ‘No’ is vital. Saying ‘Yes’ to the things you don’t want to do also causes a lot of stress. As a common cause of stress is having too much to do and too little time to do it, it makes sense to get comfortable about saying ‘No.’ To make it easier to say ‘No’ you need to understand why you find it so difficult. It can be you want to be kind; you don’t want to upset anyone. Or maybe you have a fear of conflict, rejection or not being liked. When you identify the reason, you can then help yourself with the root cause of why it is hard for you to say “No.’ Perhaps it would help to have some prepared phrases ready that you can use that would make it easier for you. Learning to say ‘No’ is saying ‘Yes’ to yourself and showing yourself some love and giving yourself more freedom!
  1. Take Control:
Stress can be triggered by a problem that you see as unsolvable. Learning how to problem solve effectively can put you in control. Again, writing the issue down is a good way to begin and then come up with as many possible solutions as you can. Then go through each one and ask some questions? …Would that work? Would that be the answer? Why wouldn’t it? How can you do this? What do you need?  When you are satisfied that you have the right answer, put a plan in place detailing each action step needed and the date it will be completed by….then you can have the control of the situation.
  1. Take Care Of You:
Take the time to rest, just to chill and do nothing. Have some pamper time…go for a massage, or to the hair salon, barbers, a walk beside the sea, out to a restaurant for a meal– do whatever is a treat for you. A short spell of rest & rewards can do wonders for your body & mind!   Karen Sydnè Coaching & Co.               High Performance Success Coach                        Professional Hypnotherapist/NLP               Certified Virtual Gastric Band Practitioner               E:karensydnecoaching@gmail.com P:+64 275143212               W:www.karensydne.com

WHAT IS ANXIETY?

By | Blog
WHAT IS ANXIETY?   Anxiety is the combining of these two symptoms - worry and stress.   Worry is the cognitive element of anxiety and stress is the physiological response, which means that anxiety is experienced in both the mind and body.   Stress is a natural response to a threat and anxiety has the same reaction but there is no threat. Worry happens in the mind; stress happens in the body and anxiety happens in the mind and the body and can be likened to that of a response to a false alarm.   At present, anxiety is attributed to being the greatest cause of depression worldwide, according to the World Health Organization….and the figures are rising. Anxiety can be the term used for a number of disorders that cause feelings of nervousness, fear, apprehension and worry.   Everyone will feel anxious at some time in their life…anxiety is normal when faced with things that might push us outside our comfort zone. It could be for example, having to stand up and give a presentation in front of others, and this causes us to stress and worry but once this challenge is over the anxiety disappears.   In our ancestor’s time anxiety came in those times of ‘fight and flight,’ those life-saving situations needed to protect them from ferocious animals….and adrenaline was released to create a sudden surge of energy, enabling them to flee from danger.   But now in our life today, it is triggered by emotionally challenged situations and the symptoms may include…. headaches, dizziness, muscle tension, pain, shaking, hyperventilating(over-breathing) feeling hot and flustered, nausea, light headedness, numbness, tingling in the face, tension in the chest. Panic attacks, phobias, compulsive thoughts and behaviours to name a few.   Or it could be anxiety trauma from a past event…. often causing flashbacks. There might be trauma, regret, remorse or guilt from the past. Lots of things can trigger an anxiety attack ….could be a sound or smell, a memory. Maybe currently it could be financial stress, relationship problems or family issues. It can be a learned behavior from copying others around us …. could be from a parent, friend, a relative, or a partner. In general, anxiety is an over-stimulation of the nervous system caused by those events in the past, what is happening at the moment in the present, or imagined concerns about what is going to happen in the future.   Because of the detrimental effect uncontrolled anxiety has on our mental health it is important to learn techniques to help control anxiety and the emotional response. Hypnosis can be used very effectively to eliminate anxiety and to provide coping tools and techniques that can help with self-control and teaches how to use relaxation to calm the mind and body.   A professional hypnotherapist can help you to identify what triggers your anxiety, to help you let go of the things that don’t really matter and to be able to focus your energy on what you can control…. your mind. The techniques will help you to live in a calmness and relaxed state and to be able to get rid of the day-to-day stresses that build-up in your mind and body. The one thing we have full control over is what we choose to focus on and what we do focus on is what we will get more of.   Benefits Of Having Greater Control Over Anxiety:
  • You will make better decisions.
  • You will have more energy and stamina.
  • The quality of your life will be significantly enhanced.
  • Your immune system will be stronger.
  • You will show less anger, fear, physical discomfort & unease.
  • You will be able to enjoy relaxation and quiet moments.
  • You will be more resilient and resourceful.
  • You will be more focused and effective in daily life.
  • You will respond in a more productive way to worry and stress.
  • You will be able to access your body’s natural ability for calmness.
  • You will have more positivity and so will achieve more.
  • You will feel better, have more time and live longer.

PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE…

By | Blog
PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE…   “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”   - Michael Jordan   The past is never lost to us, we carry it with us everywhere we go. It is in every cell of our body, our soul, it is where we learned to love and it is where we made mistakes, it is where we have been. It is where we may have made wrong decisions and went down the wrong road for a time but it is also where we made some right decisions but whatever road we took it is the one that has led us to today, the present.   The gift is knowing the present is here for today and it will soon pass and the way that we embrace it and make the most of all its moments has the power to change everything tomorrow.   Appreciate where you are in your journey, even if it is not where you want to be, as every part of your journey serves a purpose and you can either learn from it and grow or feel ripped off and be resentful. The good thing is you always get to choose at how you see your life and the direction it is taking.   You can always have a better tomorrow if you decide you will. When you believe, you achieve and it creates lots of possibilities. Our own thoughts and the words we say to ourselves impact our body, our mind and our life. Don’t wait until regret’s kick in and you wish you had done this or you had done that. Do something every day towards the ideal life that you want.   One of the things that hold people back in life and it is a huge fear that hangs over some people, is they worry what other people might be thinking about them. From the moment you worry about what other people thing about you, you lose control of yourself. Really get this, - “What anyone else thinks about you is none of your business, it only ever matters, what you think about YOU!”   When you get this, it is absolutely life-changing, your potential is being stifled if you worry about what other people think. When you truly don’t care what anyone else thinks about you, you can then reach an awesome level of freedom. Remember most people will only tell you what you can’t do….be only interested in what you can do…listen to yourself!   Do what you have to do, until you can do what you want to do. At any time, the decision you make can change your life forever, it is never too late to make a different decision. It doesn’t have to carry fear with it, just decide and do it. If you make a mistake it doesn’t matter as now you know that won’t work. Mistakes have the power to turn you into something better than you were before. So be brave and go for it!   Live your life to the fullest – don’t get to the end of your life and regret the choices you never made…it is too late; the past has been and gone and nothing will change it. Decide now today, what kind of life do you really want and then say NO to everything that isn’t what you want.   No 1 regret of the dying… “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”    -   Dee Britton   Everything you want is out there waiting on you and it is on the other side of fear, so step up and push through your fear and just go for it, you will always learn something.   It is great to have a clean out. When you declutter, it is getting rid of the old to make room for the new. Declutter every area of your life as it brings so much clarity to you and you can then focus on where you want to go. Declutter everything your wardrobe, kitchen cupboards, car, your office, work area, filing system, storage areas, your computer and phone and most importantly yourself – your mind, values, beliefs, goals, excuses, what you tolerate, what you think you can have and not have.   Be very careful what you tolerate in your life as you are teaching other people how to treat you. What you do not hate you will tolerate. You get out of life what you accept. Be consistent and get to the next version of you, always step up to the next challenge.   Never accept just okay from yourself, go a step further and up level what you do….always do one extra thing, one more than what anyone else would do. By lifting your standards, you set yourself up for greater results and your confidence increases. Doing ‘One Thing’ extra can create massive success today and every day.   When working out always do one extra push up when you think you can’t do more., lift one extra weight, one more set. Do one extra thing with everything you do, do that extra inch, go the extra mile….this is what successful people do.   Learn from successful people…Mark Zuckerberg asks himself this question everyday – “Am I doing the most important thing I could be doing?”  So, become a whatever person and succeed in spite of anything. When you play safe you are taking the biggest risk of your life as you stagnant and don’t grow.   In our today’s world where information is there at the click of our fingertips don’t become a victim to ‘information overload’ as it can stop you in your tracks. You can fall into that trap of continually searching, feeling that you don’t know enough, as you discover another new fact that you didn’t know. Life is a journey and there is always more to learn but keep going forward and learn on the way.   “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”    -   Ralph Waldo Emerson   What does your perfect day look like? Imagine it from sunrise until sunset….write it down clearly and precisely as there is power in writing it down. Then do something every day to move you closer to your perfect day.   If you don’t have a clear picture of what you really want…how will you know when you get it? Sometimes our lives have to be completely shaken up, changed and rearranged to take us to another place and we find that was where we were meant to be.   When you don’t expect anything from yourself, you become dependent on others. Create a confident new you, you can have the life you want. Set your goal, focus on it, make decisions and take the necessary action and anything is possible.   Holding on is believing that there’s only a past – letting go is knowing there is a future. Start where you are, with what you have. Ask yourself great questions as questions help you overcome challenges and find a solution. Ask, “what’s great about this?” or “how can I use this?”   Focus on the ‘How’ rather than the ‘Why’ as the secret to getting ahead, is getting started. Don’t wait until you reach your goal to be proud of yourself, be proud of yourself every step you take. It is far better to die with memories, not dreams, so create memories every day. No one needs to wait before starting to improve their life, their world. Very often it is a change of self that is needed and you are much stronger than your excuses, so become  an ‘I can do anything person.’   “Remember today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.” – Dale Carnegie   Never wait for everything to be perfect before you begin as what is perfect, it is only your perception of it. Perfection is like procrastination; it stops you in your tracks and is the killer of your dreams. You don’t have to be extreme but just start, keep focused, be consistent and anything is possible. Also take time in your day to smell the roses, press pause regularly and just breath….it brings more clarity to your mind allowing new ideas to come to you.   It helps to do the things first in your day that you don’t want to do, get them cleared off your list and then you don’t have to stress thinking about them. For instance, like that phone call you don’t want to make, just pick up the phone and do it, the relief you feel is enormous.   There are no limits to what you can achieve, except the limits you put on yourself by your own thinking. The magic happens when you believe in yourself. To get experience – you have to first have the experience, so I am a great believer in…Just doing it, start before you are ready and you can make anything happen. Life changes very quickly when you have a positive attitude.   Look ahead into the future and see yourself doing what it is you want and feel how it would make you feel, what are the emotions you are experiencing. When you can see the picture as really happened, it can’t help but happen, you do become limitless and unstoppable!   As Dr Joe Dispenza says – “How you think and how you feel, creates your state of being, when you start your day thinking about the past, the familiar past, it will become the predictable future!”

Virtual Hypnotic Gastric Band Procedure…

By | Hypnotherapy
Why would you choose the ‘Hypnotic Gastric Banding’ method over the ‘Surgical Gastric Banding’ to have your stomach shrunk? Simply because you can achieve the same, if not better, results without having to risk having surgery and going under the knife. You can be the shape and size that you want to be. Weight loss is very challenging and there are many drastic diets and exercise programs that people try over and over again….going from one diet to the next feeling disillusioned and disappointed from repeated diet failure. The Virtual Gastric Band, VGB for short, is not a diet. It is a powerful weight loss hypnosis program created to help maintain a healthy lifestyle. As, you may know the gastric band is a physical band that is fitted to the top region of the stomach which restricts the amount of food you can eat, making you feel fuller quicker…..but after having this surgery there is nothing to stop the types of foods you eat and you can fill up on chocolate, takeaways, biscuits and sweets. A hypnotic gastric band changes what you eat by gradually changing your attitude towards food, in a non-invasive, inexpensive and risk free way. It reprograms your brain to eat treats in moderation, to control the size of the meals you eat, drink more water, to make healthy food choices along with some daily exercise. It is designed to create a permanent positive change in your eating habits, getting you to where you want to be, easily, safely, naturally without feeling deprived, providing a long-term solution for weight loss. Hypnosis is a deep relaxation natural method and when used for weight loss you would focus on exercises to retrain your brain to be satisfied with smaller amounts of food…which then sets you up to shed weight effortlessly and to improve many areas of your life. By taking people through this effective weight loss hypnotherapy method it can successfully change a person’s attitude towards food and help them to regain control over their cravings and bad habits around food. It unlocks the power you already have to make a positive change in your life and to then be able to visualize what you want. The program will help you to eat less, get rid of food cravings, address your sabotaging behaviour, exercising to lose weight for good while feeling better about yourself right from the start. It is designed to create a permanent positive change in your eating habits, getting you to where you want to be , easily, safely, naturally without feeling deprived, providing a long-term solution for weight loss, so you have the control. Hypnosis is a deep relaxation natural method and when used for weight loss you would focus on exercises to retrain the brain to be satisfied with smaller amounts of food...which then sets you up to shed weight effortlessly and to improve many areas of your life. By taking people through this very effective weight loss hypnotherapy method it can successfully change a person's attitude towards food and help them to regain control over their food cravings and bad habits around food. It unlocks the power you already have to make a positive change in your life and to then be able to visualise what you want for your life. We need to eat as it is a survival requirement but it is how we eat and why we eat the way we do that needs to be looked at. It is not only food that is the problem it is the emotional demands behind the reasons that cause us to overeat. Unless these emotional drivers are looked at and resolved the undesired eating habits will resurface time and time again.   Ask yourself this question…What will you gain from losing weight?   How will you feel when you have achieved your weight loss goal, what does it mean to you and how will your life be different. Knowing 'why' you want something and having a clear vision of the outcome will mean to you, makes it easier to keep on track, when you hot a hard patch. If your 'why' is big enough it is easier to focus on the 'how' you do it. If you take a few seconds to think ahead before you eat as to how you will feel when you are finished. Ask yourself, will eating this food make me feel good? This can help you to make a more helpful and healthy choice….and to not react from a snap decision of eating whatever is convenient, making excuses that it won't matter just this once.  Often we over eat to comfort ourselves, to feel better, to beat boredom. To swallow down emotions so they don’t surface and holding back feelings we’re afraid to feel. We contain the fear of failure, anger, disappointment, frustration, sadness. You have to behave, think and act like the person you want to be to shift the mental and emotional habits to support what you want. Instead of reaching out to chocolate, biscuits, pizza and the like when you’ve been upset, stressed or overwhelmed. When it becomes our go-to strategy for dealing with emotional distress, the consequences for our physical and mental health can be devastating. Psychologically comfort eating doesn’t do what we imagine it will in helping us to cope with life’s difficulties. Instead, it can make us feel worse with numerous negative feelings of guilt, shame, futility, disappointment, worthless, ugly, weak …so that buzz you might feel from the mouthfuls of food is not worth the emotional price that goes with it. A major cause of weight gain is sugar, it is a dense food which means you can eat a lot of it even with a smaller stomach. To eat a very large meal and then eat another large meal would make you feel very uncomfortable, but you can always manage to fit in a sugary dessert even if you are quite full as sugary foods go into your bloodstream straight away and so take up less space in your stomach – allowing you to eat more even with a medical gastric band. Unlike hypnotic gastric banding, surgery gastric band fails to address cravings. When you eat sugar, your body is looking for nutrition, and because it is not getting any it will keep looking for some and encouraging you to keep eating. Even with gastric banding it is possible to eat quite large amounts of chocolate and cakes and this is a major problem. It is essential that you eat real and proper food to get the essential nutrients you need.  People can learn after banding that if they eat very slowly, they can eat more and take in large amounts of calories. Also, they might live on smoothies and juices and the high sugar content in some of these continually raises their insulin levels leaving them more prone to fat storing. If you want your body to become a fat burning machine you need to avoid refined sugar and starch like bread, pasta and pastry. Starch turns to sugar really quickly. Your body can only store fat if insulin is present and insulin is present in the body when you have eaten carbohydrates therefore the most effective way to become slimmer and maintain a slim body is to cut back starch and sugar. Eat foods like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, fruit and vegetables. You don’t need to limit quantity as your body cannot store fat if no carbs are present. A gastric band can discourage you from eating the very foods that burn fat and encourage you to eat the foods that make your body store fat, so that is why it is very important to have the right attitude and mindset to help keep you on track to achieve the outcome you want.   Are you addicted to junk food? You crave junk food and can’t stop at one biscuit, that you go back for another…and another….until you finish the whole packet. Do you feel powerless around sugary treats or maybe its salty snacks that are your downfall? You say to yourself I just don’t have the willpower to overcome the addiction to junk food. Do you feel like no matter how many diets you try; you can’t stick to them? You might go weeks, months following a strict eating pattern and then suddenly you give into your cravings and your right back where you started. It is a huge disappointment and let down to yourself, feeling like a failure and beating yourself up. You can continually repeat this cycle unless you have dealt with and faced the reasons that you reach for food. Willpower alone is not enough, it also takes looking at the pictures you create in your mind, the thoughts and words you say to yourself, the beliefs you have around what you are eating. So many of us attach our sense of self-worth to our weight, shape, and size. Looking at false images of perfection in magazines and on social media feeds the idea that we need to look a certain way to be attractive and to feel good about ourselves. We can then end up in a vicious cycle of starving ourselves, punishing our bodies for not looking like those airbrushed images that we see everywhere. Then we step on the scales and don’t see the weight loss we hoped for, and then feel like we have failed. So, then we comfort eat, our emotions drive our eating habits and all those sugary, high fat snacks are the ultimate comfort food. We overeat, then we feel bad about ourselves and then the cycle starts all over again, this is learned behaviour and this means you can learn a new behaviour and change your patterns. You can have a healthy relationship with food and your body. Become aware of what you are eating and drinking in a day by keeping a food diary and write down what you have eaten. Also record things like what time of the day it was, who you were with, what physical daily exercise you done even if it was only for a few minutes. Note your thoughts and feelings around your impulses to eat and the emotions that you experienced. This will help you to identify what emotions you are responding to when choosing food so that you become consciously aware of the choices you are making. This awareness of how you respond to food and what the void is in your life that the food is filling. This helps you to find other ways of satisfying theses needs that is not food related...it is helpful in cutting down your need to reach for all those snacks during the day. When it is an ingrained habit of reaching for food you are not aware of just how much you are eating in a day. Be honest with yourself and even if you had a tough day still record it in your diary. No matter how powerless you feel you can change it and be the shape and size that you want to be. The Hypnotic Gastric Band procedure works on the whole body, your mind, emotions, feelings, your self-worth and belief in yourself and is incredibly powerful about creating the change that you want. You can enjoy a healthy relationship with food and your body. Be totally honest with yourself and identify the connection between your emotions and your food choices and behaviours. Develop healthy patterns to get your mind and body working together to overcome comfort eating. Eating to soothe our emotions is very much a human thing to do. Try to be mindful of what and when you are eating, start slowly making changes, avoid self-judgement as you try out a new way and give yourself self-love, prioritizing sleep and eating regular small meals is a simple way to tackle the issue. The more ownership you take over your health and the food you eat, the more likely you’ll be able to make lasting change. You can be the shape and size you want to be, what you choose to be. Everyone is a different body shape and size…it’s about accepting the diversity of body shapes, it’s about enjoying foods and not being fearful of them – it’s a psychological approach to food, rather than counting calories. Hypnotic Gastric Banding is a safer non evasive long term option by addressing the main issues that caused the overeating helping you get to the root cause of why you put on weight in the first place – providing the fast results of surgery without the risk, setting you up for long-term success. It encourages you to eat less and to feel full quickly now that you have a small, tiny, shrunken stomach, eating less as you become slimmer. It conditions you to only want to eat real and nutritious food while becoming indifferent to and disinterested in sugar and junk food. It is a four session hypnosis program requiring no time off work, no special pre-treatment diet, no shakes, no formulas, no pills, no potions and another plus with today’s technology the sessions can be conducted from the comfort of your own home or office via Zoom or Skype video link….in comparison the surgery would require time in hospital and at least two to three weeks recovery with no strenuous activity, including driving.   Obesity News Today in their writings say that “Gastric Bypass Surgery does not provoke weight loss on its own, but helps patients achieve weight loss when combined with a healthy diet and regular physical activity.” The problem with this is, if the patients were able to successfully diet and exercise to achieve their weight loss goal, then they wouldn’t require the surgery at all! Virtual Gastric Band therapy not only provides fast results without the surgical risks, but it also helps you get to the root cause of why you put on weight in the first place. It is helpful in supporting people of all shapes and sizes to look after themselves in a healthy and sustainable way, which sets them up for long-term successful results. If you’re contemplating surgery for weight loss, I urge you to seriously consider Virtual Gastric Banding. Success rates using hypnosis after a through consultation for weight loss issues are high at 85 to 100% and can also help with any other correlating issues such as stress, addictions, past trauma or maybe it’s you don’t have time just for you, that your life is on one continuous treadmill….whatever the underlying cause is it can be helped with hypnosis. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this process. Book a free, 15 minute no-obligation advisory session. www.karensydne.com

By | Hypnotherapy

It can take you to the greatest heights on the success ladder or to the depths of failure. When you change your thinking, you can change your life. Hypnotherapy is a very remarkable way to help with mindset shifts bringing greater success in any area of your life. Hypnotherapy is a centuries old method for re-booting our minds to positively improve aspects of our life. It is a very quick and easy way to help someone snap out of the things that are doing them harm and to start developing more beneficial habits.   You might have spent years climbing the corporate ladder and chasing the promotion you thought would make it all worthwhile, only to get it and suddenly feel bored, uninspired, or disillusioned. If you often find yourself sitting at work wondering, ‘Is this it?’ it’s likely that your work lacks purpose. The same in your sporting career your successes lack the excitement you thought they would bring you.You don’t stop and celebrate your achievements just continuing on to the next quick fix. Hypnosis has the power to bring about positive and permanent change in your life. It rewires the beliefs and behaviors behind your fears, phobias, and negative habits by tapping into your subconscious mind. It can free you from whatever is holding you back - low self-esteem, unhealthy eating habits, toxic relationships, lack-lustre unfulfilling days, not fulfilling your passion and purpose - so you can live a joyful, successful and abundant life. When you do what you are meant to do and excel at it, you live your life with meaning, purpose, and significance. You feel happy, rewarded, satisfied and fulfilled.   For many people, the hardest task in business, sports and life is to know who or what helps them to feel good about themselves and their world, that is, who or what promotes a state of relaxation and well-being. The second most difficult task is achieving a state of balance between training and rest, between work and play, between seriousness and spontaneity, between relaxation and readiness. People get caught up in what they have to do, should do, or should be and what they think others expect them to be. This imbalance costs them a lot. The more relaxed and at ease you are, the more you feel in balance and the better your performance, whether in sport, school or at work or in your relationships. To be an effective and successful athlete, to achieve at the level you desire, you should know who and what promotes your centeredness, confidence, relaxation and your ability to have fun.   But people seldom take the time to be honest and self-nurturing enough to really connect with all the things that add to their lives and to balance the more negative things to which they seem so attached. People seem to be very good at knowing all the things, situations, people and so on that make them feel insecure, angry or frustrated with themselves….   But how do you achieve this balance, to achieve your peak performance?   One step is to become aware of your mindset and how you speak to yourself. Those harsh, hurtful & critical words that you say to yourself on a daily basis. When you are harshly critical of yourself it can cause you to self-sabotage. The mind loves positive words, it loves words only in the present tense, it loves words that make a picture and that you can see where you need to go…..learning and growing and that makes you feel great! Hypnosis is the best way to change, the most powerful way to change, the most permanent way to change. It uses cutting edge tools and is based on new and exciting methods that work. With the power of hypnosis you can have anything you want in your life.   Research indicates that future success emanates totally and absolutely from a person’s present mental attitude and self-concept. If you accept that the pictures in your mind, how you see yourself, your self-concept, have real and actual power, you will understand the importance of those pictures. What is your mind? It is that thinking part of yourself, the visions, the thoughts, the dreams you have. That part of you that talks to its self, analysing, creating, thinking and problem solving. You can change your mind through using powerful affirmations as they help to recondition your thinking and reframe your experiences into a positive, learning mode. This allows you to create a new reality for yourself with your mind and your emotions. It works best for you when you quiet yourself and when you are willing to move your mind aside and listen to the still, small voice inside.   Without a doubt you are strong, you are perfect and you can do anything you want and when you add your mind power behind it you will be unstoppable. Your mind is a very powerful machine so learn to harness its power and it can help you to experience all that you want in life, business or sports. Also, your mind tells you to think differently, to be afraid, to doubt yourself, to compare your abilities with those of others, to judge yourself or tell yourself to quit. Your mind wants to control you and when you let it you are giving it all the power. You must train it to work for you not against you. If you believe you deserve to have what you want, you will go towards achieving that goal. If you don’t have acceptance of yourself and you feel there is something lacking, something to be ashamed of, or something that is less than perfect about yourself, you will deny yourself of the things that you wish for.   People are their own worst critics and that is why they are so hurt and angry when someone else criticises or judges them. The critics are saying what the person is already thinking or feeling. If you are not self-accepting in your personal life, you will have trouble being self- accepting in your business life or sporting life. If your only identity in life and who you are is as the business person or sporting star, when you are finished your career, there is no self to be. You are lost. Who are you really? What is your purpose? You can have exactly what you want in life, business or sports or personal outcomes but it is your choice. You must be honest and true to yourself, think of everything you have ever wanted to be, do or have. Allow yourself to want anything you want and back it up with total commitment. Write it down. Imagine yourself being, doing, and having exactly what you want. Feel how it feels, notice any inner talk. Is it positive or negative? Set your mind free to allow yourself everything.   What if you actually got everything you wanted?   Take a moment to actually see yourself being what you have always wanted to be, doing what you have always wanted to do and having what you have always wanted. What does that look like? Now that you know what it is you most want, that you have the clarity put a plan in place outlining the action steps you need to take and you are ready to go. It is your mindset, thoughts, beliefs, the way you speak to yourself that stops you getting what it is you want. Remove all the limitations from your life and watch yourself soar. Remember for every 'but’ or reason why you cannot do, be or have something there is always a way to turn that around. Focus specifically on what you do want and the results you want to achieve. Be sure they are very clear to you and that you know exactly what these goals mean to you and what the exact result is that you want.   See yourself succeeding, hear the support and enthusiasm from yourself and others. How it feels to accomplish this important desire. See, feel and hear it all from the beginning to the end. Notice how simple it can be. Step-by-step you move towards your goal until you succeed. You are always in control. It’s about changing old belief systems so that you can form new ones that allow you to move forward to achieve, to become, to do and to have what you want. The more you get out of life, the more you have to give to yourself, to those you care about and to the world in general. Keeping a mental log book for life goals will help you to remember and to keep focused on the goals and the steps you need to take. If you are willing to risk and be dedicated to your mental training you will achieve your goals and perform at the top of your game. The process is exactly the same for all areas of your life. Each move forward is a learning experience and a growth step. With each step you go beyond your self-imposed limitations. You let go of fear and become willing to risk the next step.   Successful people, leaders, athletes have similar things in common: they have total belief in themselves and their abilities: they have total concentration and focus. They visualise or image what they want for days or weeks before seeing the end result.
